Ignition lock

i have a new key cut at the Subaru dealer from the VIN. The key works the door locks and the trunk, but doesn't work in the ignition. I have another longer silver key (non black top) that works in the ignition, but not the doors and trunk. Apparently the ignittion lock was probably changed before I bought the car. is there an inexpensive way to get all of these to match and only have one key? Can the dealer supply a new ignition lock matchng the original key?

It would be more expensive to replace the engine ignition switch than to go to a locksmith and have your door locks re-set to match your "new" key.

My new key works all of the doors and trunk. It matches the factory one based on the VIN. It's the ignition key that doesn't match. Can a locksmith change the ignition tumblers to match the doors?

I've never had that done before (sorry, I got your procedures swapped when reading the post -- brain fart.

). Needless to say, I'd think it'd be more expensive to have the ignition tumblers re-worked than to have doors re-worked. Give a locksmith a call and ask em. Info is usually free.
