The car is running well. I plan to change the oil in 1000km, but until then I'll be breaking it in. Replaced engine seems to output the same torque at lower RPMs than before. |

I got the rear wheel bearing seal and snap ring for SVX, and the engine and transmission mount for VIVIO. The original engine mount was NLA, but STi had a compatible part. The rubber is a little bit hard, but it will be usable. I was also lucky to be able to buy the lower arm bushings. |

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?
Today, I replaced the transmission mount and engine mount of the VIVIO. This transmission mount is for KK4 AWD models, and a little modification is required for FF KK3 and KW3 models. The position of the anti-rotation pin is different, so an additional hole needs to be drilled in the stay that secures the mount to the transmission.
Also, since the engine mount only the rubber bushing, I needed to press out the bushing from the original part and then insert a new one. The rubber bushings are only JPY 2,000 and are easy to press, so I prefer the low price, whereas the whole mount costs more than three times as much. The engine no longer shook and disappears the creaks. It's much more comfortable now. The lower arm (traverse link) bushings are also damaged, so I'll replace them when I get all the parts. BTW, recently the number of views of the attached photo has been unusually high. Is it really being viewed more than 1000 times? Or is this a system glitch? Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?
That must be a system glitch. There is virtually no traffic on this website. I'm actually surprised that it is still up and running.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?
It was so sunny day today, so I took the VIVIO carpet off and washed it outside.
When my brother had this car, oil leaked from the power steering rack into the interior and covered the carpet in oil. Every time I saw an oil stain I wanted to wash it, but it's too cold in the winter. I think it got pretty clean with some carpet cleaner and lots of water. I'm always bothered by the sound of stones hitting the wheel arches when I drive on gravel roads, so I decided to paint it with rubberized E-140 paint like the rest of my car. |

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?
I am not a robot. However, some of my systems don't work as well as they once used to, now that I'm older. I'll be 81 in early May. My coordination, reflexes and eyesight aren't as good as they were when I was in my early 20's and ice racing my SAAB, but I can still get by.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?
Today I painted the inside of the front wheel arch. The E-140 spray can I just bought the other day is now empty.
After that, I replaced the rubber hose for the carburetor cold start parts and changed the transmission oil. It was about 2L. The mudguard and inner fender clips were all destroyed when I removed them, so I ordered new ones. For most clips, you can find cheaper copies of the originals at clip specialty stores, often for less than half the price. SUBARU clips https://www.matsuyamakikou.com/shopbrand/ct26/ |

Yes Nori "Maybe an AI is roaming the internet, trying to gain knowledge."
You only have to check your own Public Profile to see how many times you have been checked. I have had over 178,000. ![]()

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?
Hi Friends! Not much to report on my SVXs lately. I did bring the JDM over to the shop to have the aircon evacuated, as I have a leak from the heater core (again).
Once the engine is back in my other project car, I will remove the dashboard and repair the heater core on my 91. The core will be going back to the shop who put it together for me and it will be repaired or remade.

I don't have time to do maintenance on my SVX either. I want to check the hub bearings, but another car is occupying the lift. I'm waiting for the lower arm (traverse link) bushes for my VIVIO to arrive. Today I changed the oil in wife's old Mini. The Mini's inspection will expire soon. This year I'm going to pass the Mini's inspection and get the inspection for wife's H6 3.0 Legacy instead. We are going to go for a drive in my Mini on a sunny day. Mini has plans to eventually overhaul the engine and replace it with a 5MT, but this is still in the planning stages. The Mini is cute but very noisy. It's best to drive it slowly at low revs. A 5MT is the way to go for that. Luckily there are new transmissions available for the Mini. The problem is that the British pound is too expensive. |

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?
I've been really busy at work this week.
I finally changed the tires on two of our SUBARS from snow tires to summer tires. The SVX still in the 2nd garage, and I still have no time to check condition. Cherry blossoms are starting to bloom in Japan. It was almost bit late to change snow tires. I received a sub-catalytic converter (intermediate pipe) for the Impreza from the UK, so I tried attach. The general shape is correct, but there are some differences from the original. The hook for the rubber ring is too thin. This is not a big problem. The problem was with the connection to the front pipe. The thickness of the flange metal fittings was much thicker than the OEM ones, the shape was bit different, and the original bolts with spring is too short enough for this. The exhaust vibrates so it is very important to hold it down with a spring. And .., There is a slight exhaust leak. It's not enough to pass the car inspection. Some modification is required. Well, that's what I get with British products. I have a lot of similar experience with MINIs. I'm still busy so I'll think about what to do later. I'll just think myself lucky to be able to buy a new, not rust exhaust. |

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?
For the Impreza exhaust, I decided to get a used junk one and transplant the flange from it. It just $10 and It will certain fit
I'll buy a new pipe to fix the rusted out OEM exhaust when I have time. Welding is easy, but to make it exactly the same, you need something to hold it in the same position. We call it a jig. Today I checked the hub bearings on my SVX. I lifted it up and tried to rotate the wheel by hand, and it was smooth and there was no problem. I think the sound was just my imagination. Probably tire road noise. When you drive an old car, you can sometimes be sensitive to noise. However, I think there is a noise coming from the power steering pump area. I know the pump is not in the best condition, but I haven't been able to find a good used one to replace. When I check with a stethoscope, I think the noise is coming from the idler pulley, not the pump. I removed the idler pulley and checked it, the bearings seemed fine. A quick cleaning and put it back together. The noise went away. Maybe some dirt or something got stuck in there somewhere. Anyway, the SVX is fine and I haven't had to do any repairs, which is petty good thing. I ordered an idler pulley and front hub bearings from RockAuto just to be safe. Of course, the OEM parts are NLA. |
