I already have a spare ball joint that I plan to use it together in the future when I need it. The used lower arm bushings are looks good condition and usable. I removed the rust of surface, treated them with rust prevention paint, and painted them with urethane paint. Powder coating would be best, but I don't have the equipment to do that.

The brake booster is also NLA. This used one looks Okey and no fatal damage. However, there are signs of leakage from the master cylinder. This master cylinder will not be able to use without OH. However, the repair kit, 26471AA031, is also NLA. Does anyone know of an alternative? The third party TK-F203 made by Miyako also appears to be NLA.
Once the paint dries it will look as good as bland new one.

I also sandblasted and repainted the wiper arm and a used shift link from a VIVIO. The shift lever is wobbly and doesn't have a good feel. I'm hoping that replacing the worn links and bushings with new ones will fix it.

The arm and booster look good!

I am slowly gathering some of the pieces for my 1992's head gasket work. Work on both of my Subarus is queued until I have the engine back together for my 911.

Hi,

This week I was having an email discussion with Miyako, a third-party rubber boot maker. In Japan, Miyako and Seiken are the leading manufacturers in this field.

I was told that NLA had no stock of the TK-F203 for the SVX, but they did have two of the TK-F215, which has the same 1 1/16 inch diameter, in stock.
The TK-215 fits the GC8 Impreza I own, so I decided to buy the last two in stock.

The outer diameter of the rubber cup (O-ring) is 1 1/16 inches. If the inner diameter is the same, it can also be used for SVX.

I will report compatibility of it once I received it.

If TK-215 can use ...

According to Subaru, the genuine part 26471FA011 seems still available, but it's twice the price of the Miyako.

The metal fittings and springs of the tandem kit seem not be quite same. However, the rubber cup can be used.

I removed the rubber cups from the new Impreza's kit and installed them on it for SVX. and will be cleaning the case and putting it back together.

The outer diameter of the rubber cup was 1 1/16 inches (27 mm) and the inner diameter was 3/4 inches (19.2 mm).

I plan to keep one of the two tandem kits I purchased for my GC8 Impreza.

The GC8 is my favorite Impreza.

Looking good, here.

The pile of parts for my 1992 SVX is growing. Gasket set, water pump and timing kit, and struts are waiting to go on.

I am moving steadily forward assembling a different "flat 6" for my other project.

The air-cooled FLAT6 has a great sound. I like this engine. In Japan, the air-cooled 911 is too expensive to buy. It will cost at least 10 million yen. Plus, I'm so busy keeping my five SUBARUs and an old Mini in perfect condition that I can't afford to add any more cars.

But the 911 is a car I'd like to own one day. It looks like it will end up being just a dream.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Today, I replaced upper mount rubber of VIVIO. Modern upper mounts are sold as assemblies, but for upper mounts on '90 cars you can buy just the rubber part. This kind of consideration is ecological and easy on the wallet.

Price of rubber is almost $10.

The upper mount can be separated into two metal parts and a rubber part.

The old upper mount had stretched due to the weight of the car, leaving a gap of about 7mm. The new one fits perfectly.

My mom and brother used it about 100K miles. An exchange would be appropriate.

I finished one task at my job today, so I can do my favorite thing: tinkering with my car.

I did right side today. I will do left tomorrow.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Today I rebuilt the VIVIO shift lever and link parts. I got some spare parts just in case. The cause of the loose lever seems to be the welded nut of U.J. coming off.

Other original parts seem to be in better condition than purchased used one.

The original shift lever has too large a stroke, so it has been modified to a quick shift type. The lever I purchased this time will be modified in the same way.

Luckily I was able to get hold of all the bushings so I will replace them all with new ones. I plan to assemble it after the urethane paint has dried sufficiently. That's all for today.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Today I assembled the shift lever and link together and put it back in the car.

No more wobbling.

I have driven about 500km since the engine overhaul, so I will adjust the ignition timing a little and try to rev it up a little higher.

The engine oil is clean and looks like it was just changed. The new piston rings and crank metals have just the right amount of clearance and show no excessive initial wear.

Finally, I gave the interior a quick clean. I'm not good feel about the fluid leaking from the power steering rack staining the carpet. I'd like to remove the carpet from the car and wash it, but that's for another day.

Next up, I plan to do an engine and transmission swap on my wife's R1.

The spare engine was overhauled last year. I was not planning to replace it soon, but I'm worried about the front differential bearings being worn out. I'll replace it sooner than planned.

Today I received a replacement CVT, which has only 40,000km on it and should be much better condition than the transmission that has 240,000km on it.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Today, I assembled brake master for SVX. It loos brand new one. I installed a new rubber cup with brake grease.

I'll keep it like this in the storage with repainted front lower arm. It would be good if I don't have to use it.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Today is day 2 of the engine swap.

I've been so busy today that I haven't taken many photos.

I removed the driveshaft along with the hub, the hood, the bumper, the intercooler, the supercharger, the throttle body and air cleaner case, separated the compressor from the engine and hung it from above, removed the harness, the earth wire, the front pipe and catalyst, drained the coolant and removed the radiator hose.

All that's left now is to separate the steering column from the rack, remove the rack and stabilizer, and then remove the subframe before I can finally remove the engine.

I'll continue tomorrow.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Today is day 3 of engine swap.

Because the work space was small, the removed engine was moved to the rear of the vehicle. The rebuilt engine was placed on a table lifter.

The subframe, stabilizer, and other parts that will be reused were washed outside to remove oil stains. They are planned to be repainted just to be safe.

Tomorrow I'll paint and clean the engine room. It'll take a long time, but I don't get a chance to clean the engine room very often, so I can't skip this task.

There is oil seepage around the exhaust valve No. 4. When the engine was not started for a few days, white smoke came out, probably due to the valve stem oil seal. This engine will be overhauled later.

his engine has been used for 240,000 km. Other than a small amount of white smoke coming from the muffler and a slight loss in power, there are no other problems, so I think it can still be used if the piston rings, metal, and oil seals are replaced.

Today I repainted the subframe and various other parts.

There was no time to clean the engine bay.
