General questions that I can't remember
Okay, i'll be the first to admit, I'm still getting used to my SVX after not really being able to drive it for the last 8 years. Many things (like the snow setting for the wipers) I'm starting to remember again on my own and others I've been able to find with the search. However, there are a few that I can't find and would like to see if anyone would be so kind as to refresh my memory.
1. Is the cruise control switch supposed to turn off (as default) each time you turn the car off. I find that to use the cruise I have to push the button on the dash to turn it on before I can engage it but I was thinking that it stayed on unless you turned it off manually. Am I remembering that wrong? 2. My windshield wipers work fine but they extend past the window at their furthest point. Is there a way to adjust those so they don't do that? 3. Are there lights in the gear indicator on the shifter? I thought those lit up, but mine don't. Are the lights burned out or did those never light up....I can't remember. Thanks for the help

Re: General questions that I can't remember
My cruise light goes out with the key and has to be reset next time I want to use it.
There should be lights on the console. There is also indication on the dash. The end of the. Turn sig stalk has a button on the end that turn the dash lights brighter on day time running with head lights are used ( rain or fog )

Re: General questions that I can't remember
About the only way to reset the wiper position on the window, as in any vehicle, would be to pop them off & reposition on the cogged peg (unless the SVX has a secret, yet undiscovered, knob hidden in the glovebox, where the light should be).

Re: General questions that I can't remember
All of the Subies I've had have canceled cruise control when the ignition is switched off. My Toyota pickup cancels it too. Honda does not do this, the cruise stays in the same state through an ignition turnoff. Not sure about other manufacturers.

Re: General questions that I can't remember
No Ron, not in the glove box, but under the steering wheel. There is a switch there that will keep the wipers higher over the defrost vents so they can be defrosted in the winter.

Hey there Earl ya' old fart. Halistan mentioned the winter/summer switch, so I assumed he had found it, & was having a different issue, as the wipers were landing askew no matter where the switch was set. Just my 10 cents (inflation) worth.

Re: General questions that I can't remember
Thanks for the post halistan. It's true, having been around here awhile you do forget some of nuances of the SVX. It's also great when they don't cost any $.

Re: General questions that I can't remember
yeah, I knew about the switch, and I was afraid that the only way to correct them was to pop them off and re-position them. I just didn't want to have to do that. When i stopped driving the car they weren't like that so I'm not sure how that could have happened. Oh well, I'll work on that too at some point.
As for the cruise, my Acura used to keep it on and I guess I started to think that the SVX did too. I just couldn't remember for certain. I am guessing that the bulbs on my center console (shifter) are out since those lights don't come on. I have the ones on the dash light up that show what gear you're in. I'll take that apart at some point too and try to replace those. Does anyone have a write up for that by chance? I've never taken that part before so I wasn't sure how involved it was.

Re: General questions that I can't remember
I believe that there is one in the How-To section.

Re: General questions that I can't remember
I've been looking all over for the "How to" to disassemble the center gear shift and can't find it.
HOWEVER, I did find this little gem and would desperately like to know how to get one of these. It's apparently an ionizer for the SVX. I never even knew something like this existed and with my allergies it would be a godsend. http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/showthread.php?t=54384 Does anyone know how to get in touch with that guy in Aukland to get one?

Re: General questions that I can't remember
We have heard the ionizer is a holy grail for SVX add-ons. Keep an eye on ebay and the Japan auction sites maybe New Zealand and or Australia if they also have ebay like sites.

Yes? The ionizer is cool. I had forgotten all about these.... and never seen an application like this ! I used to work with large scale air filters like this. Even experimented with one on power plant scale (gas turbine inlet filtering). Your aim is to filter pollen from the cabin air? /T |

Re: General questions that I can't remember
Oh yeah, i keep forgetting about those PDF's, but yes I am trying to find something to help clean the pollen from the air. My allergies are so incredibly bad here in Texas that I'm miserable a good part of the year. Fortunately my Infiniti has a great HEPA filter and I drive it the most so its okay.
I'd just like to find something for the SVX if/when I get back to making it my daily driver. Ray PS. I hate cedar...It's a bane on this world and should be eliminated. Quote:
