Great to save another one.

Love the passenger side wheels.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

How could someone turn a SVX with such a good body into a dumpster?
Glad you are working on bringing it back to life. I know there are not many around in your part of the world. Where on earth will you find the parts to fix it?

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

I have two parts cars and another which I'm undecided about. So I should be ok for parts.

Got it running today. Fuel pump was seized, had to extract it from the gas tank and unseize it. Car started easily and idled smoothly. Not bad considering it probably hadn't been run in 5 years and the petrol was rotten (smelled terrible).

Now I just need to get a new radiator and scrounge a pulley then I can get it home for a proper clean.

For the Legacy --- front axles, front endlinks, and front oil axle seals...
For the SVX --- picked up some neoprene to make my own taillight seals to keep the water out.

Removed the boot (trunk) carpets from the two cars I bought from a plasterer and took them to Wash World where I water blasted them to clean out the plaster.

They're now hanging in my shed to dry out.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Tested our spare HVAC unit that we had replaced the normal green/yellow switch LEDs with blue/yellow to go with our interior theme. Good time to do that as the HVAC plug pigtails are very short and previous radio removal makes repeated testing easier. Found a couple of issues: 1 the LED legs need to be shortened as 7 of the 10 prevent proper button presses (the LEDs sit inside the switches and can prevent full presses) and 2 they actually may be too bright. Max height above the board can't exceed 15mm.
Shortening will be easy, will have to decide about the brightness but a bit of black sharpie application to the LEDs might resolve that issue. We found the blue/yellow LEDs on ebay. Memory says they are common cathode.

Photos after we shorten the legs and trail install the unit again.

Photo of the test attached. No bezel yet but that is a minor installation. Blue LEDS are much bluer then they appear in the photo

Finally did the "Starter Relay Fix" on the "Black Beauty"! No more "click". It was so easy. I can't believe I waited so long! Thanks Izack!

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Drove my spare Ruby 4WS home from the mechanic after getting it mobile.
Will strip & clean interior this weekend and take it for a safety inspection next week to find out what else is needed.

Now sat down in front of my big telly, watching Grand Prix [1966].
Three hours of 1960's epic F1 car racing, woo hoo !

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Finally installed the QS Teflon end link rod ends to replace the Nevin kit ones. What a difference. I can actually hear the engine now instead of those busted and rusted rod ends.

I just hope they last.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Well today I got my 92 SVX back after being off the road for 3 months.. I had the following done:

Engine removed and all rubber hoses replaced.
Cam Belt, Water Pump, Idlers etc replaced.
Replaced knock sensors
Upgraded Flexplate
NGK Iridium Spark Plugs
K&N Air Filter
Transmission cooler added.
EBC Redstuff Brake Pads
Steel Braided Brake Lines
Left front wheel bearing replaced.
Fluids etc replaced.

Probably more stuff that I cant remember.

Braking is now 1000% better than before.. Its awesome.

Also recently won this auction:

Now I have to get them from Florida to New Zealand (8000 Miles)..

Fun times..

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

24hrs later and its bad news..

Today by heater core failed, and dumped coolant through my interior, under my passenger seat. Thankfully it was spotted (Green coolant dripping from the car.. couldn't be seen internally) and I managed to get the ABS computer extracted before it got drowned.

Many thanks to Shane Hobson for is assistance today.. Im convinced this is all his fault though.. we only discussed this exact scenario a few hours before it happened.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

You can smell the coolant when it starts to leak before it let's go completely, it's about to happen in my red one. I should bypass it before I end up having a coolant sauna lol
