Re: Problems with my 92
This thing is coming back to haunt me
![]() I sold it a few weeks ago and it was running ok prior to that. It still had some hesitation/stutter but it ran for several hundred miles without dying. The day we transferred the title it died in the parking lot ![]() Since then I replaced the fuel pump and strainer with mixed results. Also replaced the relay under the dash with no difference. Will be getting price and availability on the ballast resistor and control module today. The new owner said he can hear the pump running, but it will just die without warning (dont know if the pump is running after that or not). It also has a new filter. Just thought of something.....I'm going to try cleaning the MAF, see if theres any change. |

Re: Problems with my 92
ok, I had these EXACT issues with my 92. I almost threw a sledge hammer through my windshield when this started happening with mine because I could not figure it out for the frigging life of me.
I didnt have access to any parts SVX's at the time, so I couldnt swap out parts. What I ended up doing to get mine running (over a year ago now) I put a fuel pump in it out of a 98 Outback GT. Not the entire fuel pump assembly, just the fuel pump. keep in mind I installed a used pump which I dont recommend, but if ur broke it works just fine ![]() All problems cured. No more random stuttering, random slowdowns (where the car slightly slows down no matter how far you put the pedal to the floor), no dying, no more leaving me stranded in Alaska in February. Turbone - What kind of fuel pressures are you getting? and when the car dies is it maintaining fuel pressure or losing? I don't think it would be the MAF causing it to die and not start. and if it did, you would be able to unplug the MAF and restart the car and drive (it will run poopy with it unplugged, but it will drive) When my MAF died (2x now) it would make the car stutter and do weird high RPM idles (like a cold start warmup RPM 1500-1800 RPM)

You come down right now and I'll sell it to you for $1000! Cause I just had to buy the thing back today ![]() Still having the stalling issue. I'm going to clean the MAF again. If that fails, I will clean the IAC. If that fails I plan on blowing compressed air back thru the fuel system (from the filter) and see if that changes anything. I may just have a ton of crap clogging up the lines, but I dont know for sure. So far I've changed the fuel pump(new), all the relays and resistor, the fuel filter twice and the regulator on the intake manifold. Its like the pump is shutting off by itself? |

Re: Problems with my 92
Finally figured out the fuel issue out today. I had a bad connection in the FP harness where it comes from the tank and up thru the floor.
![]() Pulled both pins out and tightened them up, no more intermittent FP! |
