Re: Power Mode Selection

I removed the connection from the blue wire under the kick panel and used the metal frame of the car. It works! This explains why I was unable to clear engine codes with the blue wire, probably a bad connection.
Thanks to all for your help! I will test it tonight.
Another question: when should I use it?
When passing, getting onto the highway, going uphill, etc?

Mine is in Power Mode all the time, as it will still do the torque converter lock-up in that mode. I think the US one will not lock-up if the Power is on, so just turn it off when on the long cruise.

You are correct, it doesn't lock up if power mode is on.

Under 50 mph, I drive with the shifter in 3, with power mode on. If I'm cruising above 50, I put the shifter in D and turn power mode off. Sometimes on the highway if I'm trying to pass or just generally in a fast mood, I'll turn power mode back on. Cruising along in 4th with the torque converter locked up gives really good gas mileage, but it doesn't lock up until 50. And, driving below about 45-50 in 4th is not ideal for the stock transmission.

Re: Power Mode Selection

You guys might think I'm crazy. Let me explain:
When I bought my SVX, it kicked A**
When the Trans was rebuilt, It wasn't as good.
When I swaped it for a 4.44, it was better, but not like the original.
In other words, it has never been the same.
Now with the power mode, It kicks A** again!
I could swear that the original trans was just as strong as in power mode now. Am I just imagining this?

Re: Power Mode Selection

dannmarr - I have a 4.44 in my car also, and I felt the opposite of what you said happened with yours. the 4.44 improved acceleration, and that general power feeling using the butt dyno. What torq converter and TCU did you use when you did the swap?

Remember the stock trans was a 3.54 and you put a 4.44 in, so you went from a top end transmission to an acceleration transmission. I think what you are noticing is the difference in where the power gets used on the EG33 engine. I makes its peak power from 3500-5000 and seems a bit flat between 1500-2500 (At least my 92 does, always had even with teh 3.54 in it)

Sorry if this **** dont make sense, been up all night.. gotta love insomnia

When it comes to passing people on the highway, it does its job very well.

Here is a video of an SVX with tranny swap doing 55-100mph.

I thought it be faster...why does it seem to be 3 secs slower than my stock tranny from 80-100mph?

It shifts out of second @ redline at 67mph?? So you never see 2nd gear on a 65mph highway in a 4.44???

I really enjoy that drop to second in my svx when passing people on the highway..

Can someone with a 4.44 clear up my confusion. Is 3rd really that slow to pull or does the guy in the video have slow svx??
I asked this before... never really got an answer..

Anyone with a 4.44 got an 60-100mph wot video?
14secs from 60-100 for him, 11secs for me.

The 80-100mph that is WAY slower in that video.. like 3 secs slower...
Takes me 5secs, takes him 8secs...
