Currently I would go with the g37x coupe, audi a5, or bmw 330xi coupe are the more recent types of cars similar to the svx, with the audi being the closest (lower production and underpowered for it's size).

THIS^^ cant wait to have two awesome subie coupse in my driveway. by all accounts this car is due late next year early 2012. and ill be in just the right spot financially and careerwise, the owner of the dealership i work at also owns a subaru dealership, can you say employee pricing

Lexus SC300 was the first thing that came to mind for me too.
I wasn't thinking about cars that could outperform the SVX when I read the original question, just cars that were comparable to it. I also agree the standard 3000GT/Stealth were pretty comparable.

SC300/non-turbo Supra Z32 non-turbo 2+2 Stealth/3000GT non-turbo Those are the ones that immediately come to mind.

Agree on the SC300. It's rear-wheel drive, which is sweet, and it was/is available with a manual transmission -although I've only driven an automatic.
Try it, you'll like it..
