How long has your transmission lasted?
With all the transmission problems on the board recently (including mine) I'm wondering, how long has your transmission lasted? If you've had more than 1 transmission, you can select more than one category. For example: the previous owner replaced the original on mine at 35,000, and that one is finally acting up 135,000 miles later...

Re: How long has your transmission lasted?
I answered 100,000-125,000 for my silver, for which I have receipts showing that the first transmission was replaced at <70,000 miles.
Will abstain answering for the teal, as I don't really know. The salesman who sold me the car said the previous owner had the transmission rebuilt @ around 100,000 miles, but provided no documentation. I've done nothing but routine service. Could be it is completely original. dcb |

Re: How long has your transmission lasted?
The transmission in my nice 92 svx is original and is still shifting perfectly. I don't know the status of my "beater" svx's transmission. It works nicely but I don't know if it was ever rebuilt.

Re: How long has your transmission lasted?
Mine failed just a couple months after purchase at 103k. The previous owner said that it was rebuilt by the owners before him at around 60 or 70k.
Oh, and I just picked up a 2wd that has a blown trans at 93k |

Re: How long has your transmission lasted?
As far as I know my tranny is original and has never been rebuilt. As I have no prior service records this is purely speculation, but it doesn't look as though it's ever been replaced or removed.

Re: How long has your transmission lasted?
my 96 was originally owned by a subaru dealer when new and then sold at around 96k and then to me at 98k so i don't know if it's ever been swapped either.

Re: How long has your transmission lasted?
I have no idea on the history of mine before I bought the car, but it's given me 3 years and 25,000+ miles of flawless operation. I picked 25-50,000, but it could be as much as 130,000 if it's original.

Re: How long has your transmission lasted?
I have had 5 in mine in less that 50,000 miles and the one I have now with less than 8,000 miles is going bad.

Re: How long has your transmission lasted?
I'm at 138,000 with the original right now and no signs that there will be any failure any time soon. Still shifting strong and smooth.

Re: How long has your transmission lasted?
Mine failed around 40000 miles (in previous owners hands, then he replaced it)
The early failure can be atributed to the heat around here of about 38-40 c (104 f) in summer.
