Economy is down so people don't have money,
More people signed up for 10 in expectation that there might be something special,
People figure that there can't be much this year after everything last year...

just a few thoughts

I am going even though I do not have money and sadly, won't have my SVX there yet again this year

but I will still be sure to have plenty of fun

Since not a lot of time is spent in the rooms anyway, maybe some members can share a room with 2 queen beds to cut costs. Price is down to $40.00/night.

You cannot top the Pace car appearance. But that is not what Reading is all about. The best Readings in memory happened without any carrots being dangled before our eyes. Even the miserable weather at Reading 7 did not dampen or spirits too much

It;s not about being entertained or lured to attend. It's all about the people. That's what keeps everyone coming back year after year. If you were there last year around raffle time on Saturday (when the Pace car was locked away) you would understand.

But if you really need an incentive to attend in the future, the prototype show car (not the original pearl, but the red repaint) is possibly available for the 20th Anniversary Meet. SOA did some legwork and a peliminary investigation. They would need a firm commitment almost a year ahead

The problem is: Round trip air transport to and from Japan, insurance and tickets and compensation for accompanying personnel and other logistics.

Price? The current estimate is between $25,000 to $30,000. I think they are trying to discourage this but if we are willing...

So if we got 150 people to commit $200.00 each, we could possibly make this happen. But how do you control anyone who just shows up to see the car without this commitment? Private ticketed event only? Ain't gonna happen!

Ahh but I was there and do understand, John.

It was a great experience even without the Pace car and I had a blast meeting everyone. you were looking for an explanation and I just simply threw a couple out there

It would probably be better for me to save the money I'll be spending to get out there and put it in my SVX but I would rather have a great time and escape for a weekend with all the other "crazy people" who have a love for these rare cars

I'm debating if i should stay all weekend. I'll most likely be coming Saturday and leaving Sunday.

Reading X was during a time I call "unemployed", but I still left my house at 4AM on Friday to make sure I got there in time for the brewery tour.

For Reading XI, I represent two of the aforementioned black icons, and I don't know of any itinerary, special appearances, noteworthy raffle bits, nor other incentives than spending a weekend with some people who are a hell of a lot of fun to spend a weekend with.

I'm going to fit them in whichever vehicle I end up taking. Would love to take the SVX but don't have the money to do anything with the trans just yet. I am either going to drive my crapalier unless it needs more work than the stuff I have or else the Durango again. Who knows, I might get ambitious, fix the crapalier, sell it, sell the snows that I have on the SVX and use that to take care of the trans finally. Either way, I'll be finding a way to fit those tires somewhere...
I think one might work well around my waste for added protection in case of an accident

For reference you can fit 4 tires in an SVX with space for a passanger and driver. Just gotta have the seats up some. Also you can fit a rear bumper with a big kicker box in the trunk. And you can also fit a front dif on the floor behind the passenger, with a front seat laid across the back along with a few other items...
