Parking brake light on
My parking brake light came on this morning on the way to school...(it may have been on since I left without me noticing). I don't use the parking brake because one of the cables is seized. I checked the brakes, not hot and the car isn't dragging. The brake fluid is full. The handle hasn't been lifted at all. Bad parking brake switch?

Re: Parking brake light on
Are you sure it's not the STOP LAMP light?

Re: Parking brake light on
Tap on either the parking brake lever or your brake fluid reservoir, one of the switches may be stuck.

Re: Parking brake light on
The same thing happened to me yesterday... it fixed itself after a couple hours. Cold weather is here to stay

Re: Parking brake light on
Also check to be sure the rubber diaphragm on the inside of the brake fluid reservoir cap hasn't popped out as it will do when low on fluid. I have had it happen even when it wasn't low.

Re: Parking brake light on
Check the area uner your hood around your ABS pump for fluid. We have seen them fail on my Claret and on Tom's silver they leak slowly at first and cause pressure loss eventually.

Re: Parking brake light on
The light was out when I drove back from school. It could have been the diaphragm, I didn't look at it but when I removed the cap to check the brake fluid level it may have popped back in. If it comes on again I'll keep that in mind.
As a side note: Bahahahahahahahahaha.... General Exclaim UHP's fail at snow. Honestly, the car is so tail happy it might as well be RWD. Need to get the Blizzak's back on.

Re: Parking brake light on
I don't mind them in the rain, but you probably get more feel out of them with coilovers. I don't like the mushy sidewalls though. I left them on for the first snowfall because I wanted to see how bad they really are. I'm still part timing it in a tire shop while at school, and the brain dead company I work for actually lists the Exclaims as "All Seasons", meaning I've installed them in the middle of January. Based on this experience I won't be doing it next time they ask.

Re: Parking brake light on
I get that off and on after using my handbrake and the light stays on for a random periode of time or not at all, so i figured it might've been the sensor?

Re: Parking brake light on
That happened to me on my '97 Legacy yesterday, too. (It's been very cold here!) I removed the brake reservoir cap and put it back on and the brake light went off- I'm not sure exactly what I did.

Re: Parking brake light on
It's starting to appear in mine also within the last few weeks. Mostly it'll come on those because the PS pump was seizing and choking the alternator... the light would go away about 30 mins later... I'll see if it re-appears after this pump is put in tomorrow...

Re: Parking brake light on
I have the same thing too and it went away on the next start engine cycle. Does the extreme cold temp lower the fluid in any way due to shrinkage? My fluid is DOT4 fresh from last year.
