Rare Red '96 SVX Lsi with 15K miles

Hi all!

I have a red '96 Lsi with 15,752 original miles
that I am looking to sell. I have it listed on
AutoTrader.com. You should be able to find
it (with pictures) at the following link:

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...e&rdpage=thumb

If you can't find it at that link, search Subaru SVX's at "Any Distance"
and you should see a red '96 with 15K miles.

Here are some of the details:

State SVX is in: Southern California
Year: 1996
Model: SVX Lsi
VIN:
Paint Color: Red
Interior Color: Tan
Miles: 15,752
Location: San Diego, CA
Options: Stock
AWD or FWD: AWD
Modifications: None
Major service: Not needed
Engine Condition: Excellent (using synthetic oil)
Maintenance Records: Available
Transmission condition: Excellent
Glass condition: Excellent
Type of tire and remaining tread: Original tires with great amount of tread left
Type of wheels: Stock alloy
Interior condition: Excellent (has droopy passenger sun visor)
Body condition: Excellent
Known defects or problems: None
Comments about the car: This is very close to being a new SVX. I bought it several years ago with 9800 miles and have driven it approximately
100 miles per month since.

If you have any interest, you can contact me at
my public email at: wizard2277@hotmail.com.

Thanks,

Chen ("Ken")

Re: Rare Red '96 SVX Lsi with 15K miles

Holy smokes.

I am not even sure I could get that as trade-in value on my 05 Legacy GT. But it also has 6 times as many miles...

I wouldn't even want to put a stick in that museum piece, (which is evidently harder on the OBD-II 96 and 97 cars...)

This car belongs in a collection, or something, to be kept pristine, but driven for a bit of enjoyment and maintenance. It would be a crime to commute this car every day.

Wow, that is wonderful! I would be very very interested if the price was lower. VERY. Its not a tough drive in any since for me. We must negotiate.

It looks like the sun has faded some of the plastic cladding. The reality is even if the price was droped to 10K it would still be a hard sell. Most not all SVX owners are cheap.

We aren't cheap we just have to spend an arm and a leg for anything else on our cars. I use up 7qts every oil change! I dread how much I'll have to use in my Impreza once I finish my EZ30R swap due to simular stock oil use + oil cooler and lines.

If 7 quarts of oil burns up your car money or puts a dent in your budget. I suggest to anyone in the same position not to try or buy any price SVX.

It's RED.

Red paint is the most affected by UV fading. It will fade way faster than any other colour.

This is one of the reasons I'm not too fond of red cars, any red cars.

However, if you wanted to own an immaculate SVX, this one fits the bill. I'd love to be able to afford it. It should actually be bought by a museum.

Agreed. Some of us aren't wealthy, but we understand the costs and the importance of proper maintenance an SVX requires.

I think the price is more than fair considering the low mileage of this car. There may not be many with lower mileage left.

Good Luck with the sale. Didn't you mention having a Polo Green as well?

I would say further than anyone with GENUINE interest in purchasing this car would not move first to negotiate the price, but to learn more about the car. Doing the former is in poor taste and insults the party who has taken such care to keep this car.

Re: Rare Red '96 SVX Lsi with 15K miles

Victor, et al:

Thanks for all the kind comments. The comment about the paint being
faded is not true. It may just be the digital camera that I used for the
pictures or the angle of the sun or your computer monitor. I had a
premium teflon sealant applied to the car the day after I got it, and if
you look at it in person, I think that you will find that the paint is still
lustrous and shiny. The car has only been exposed to the sun during
the approximately 100 miles per month that I drive it.

I hope that this clears up the paint issue. If someone can tell me how
to take prictures differently so that the car is pictured correctly, I would
appreciate it (i''m not photography expert and I have a fairly simple
camera).

In my opinion, the car looks and runs great. I think it is well worth
what I'm asking. It's like getting a nearly new $50,000 car (in today's
dollars) for $14,100. But, it's only going to worth that to someone
who loves SVX's and wants to drive one for quite a few more years.

Thanks,

Chen

Re: Rare Red '96 SVX Lsi with 15K miles

Hi Guys!

I've had several inquiries about the KBB value for this car. Here is the
gist of the email that I sent one of the people who was inquiring:

There simply are no other cars out there
with such low mileage. Since KBB and
Edmunds only track actual sales, they
have no data with which to compute
an accurate price for this car. If you go
on KBB's site and query the pricing on
this car with any number of miles up to
about 70,000 (excellent condition), you
will see that you get the exact same
pricing no matter how many miles you
put in. The price only drops a couple
hundred dollars from 70,000 to 100,000
miles.

So, yes, I am firm on the price. I think
that it's a heck of a car at that price.
It's like getting a $50,000 car (in today's
dollars) that's nearly brand new for
$14,100. Here's a quote from an email
I got yesterday from someone who is
also interested in the car:

"I cannot imagine that you will have any
SVX lover squawk about the price. You
may have the last pristine SVX left."

So, I hope that helps to clarify why the pricing on this car
is what it is.

Chen
