I'd be interested in knowing how anyone can "guarantee" an oil filter. Guaranteed to do what?

It's funny they don't have 12 month oil, only 6 month 7,500 mile oil. I don't mind doing 4 oil changes a year. It gives me a chance to poke around under the car looking for other issues.

what if i drove 7500/yr, would 7500mi oil work?
actually you must not be looking to hard. amsoil does have 12 month oil, notice @ the bottom of linky, service life.
http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/asl.aspx
i spend enuff time looking under and around my car i don't need to waste more oil.
there's some leaking off valve covers. fresh heads/gaskets in the works.
i'm working on being as green as i can. as it's synth and it doesn't break down like reg oil. i worked for an oil testing lab back in the day so i've learned a few things about oil, but i know that everyone else knows more than me.

i'm pretty sure they mean, guaranteed to filter and not plug up. see linky below
i'm not an amsoil tech or nuthin, just a gearhead that finds the oil stays clean w/ the normal wix/amsoil filters for 3K miles. so the new Ea filter was worth a shot. http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/eao.aspx
i've only got 2500 miles on it so far, oil still looks as clean as normal.
hey spend all the $ you want on oil changes, no matter to me.
but w/ the lezbaru and 3 trucks i'm doin 4 oil changes a yr w/ synth. plus synth AT fluid changes.
plus winter/summer tire changes etc. i'm gearhead enuff.
i'm also using/testing the amsoil stuff in the 450hp engines in my pickup and burban, using it hard!
btw- some newer cars even have oil change sensors to let you know when to change them based on contamination and viscosity.
as for these purolator filters coolin, if even possible, by what? 5 deg F?
since it takes an ext. cooler, not next to engine, w/ LOTS more surface area, to cool 20+deg.
maybe it'll make a diff, but synths don't have nearly the heat break down issues as dino oil.

Re: Proper SVX oil filter?

Why not buy a better oil filter that will be more beneficial to your car

Re: Proper SVX oil filter?

Most "premium" filters, fluids and whatnot are precision engineered to lighten your wallet.

For normal driving, any plain old oil filter, changed regularly, will do just fine.
