Ported stock headers
I spent last night porting and polishing out my stock exhaust manifolds... Here are some pics from it. The openings were originally about 1 1/2 inches in diameter and now they are a hair wider than 1 3/4 inches.....

Re: Ported stock headers
Looks good. Aughta help a little bit. Are you doing any more work? I like seeing porting work. I recently worked on one of my turbo housings, port matching it to my aftermarket manifold. Took quite a bit of material out.

Re: Ported stock headers
They are now all smooth and black.... No more rust..... That is all I have planned for the headers but, the rest of the exhaust will be altered very slightly as well.....

What are the measurements of the exhaust port on the heads?

Re: Ported stock headers
1.5" for a stock port.... Bobby, what is the point of just modifying the ports on the manifolds if you are not able to get all the way down and out. That and w/o supporting headwork, you exhaust gases move quickly to a large open space... Slow down... tumble... and try to find an exit... You want them to go faster and pull out other gases w/ their intertia

Re: Ported stock headers
I was able to get all the way down except for the furthest back corner on each front runner... I want to see what this does.. If nothing then it was a couple hours and zero dollars spent...

Re: Ported stock headers
Though it may not be a big deal in this case, but usually in the performance world, it is best to have a slightly smaller exhaust port dumping into a larger header runner, or having a conical shaping to the ex port to help reduce the risk of exhaust gas reversion. Though it would best if the runners within the header maintain the same diameter.
