Please use the template here. This will answer any questions that members have. If you have larger pictures, it would help. Good luck on the sale. A price would help as well.

Re: 1992 Subaru SVX 72k Miles

Also it's not a Porsche engine but I'd definitely buy it if I had the cash! (Or a Toyota to trade... All I have is a 92 Dodge diesel but I don't wanna trade it for a car )

Subaru actually copied their original designs from VW.

The "Boxer" motor was designed by Karl Benz though. It was first used in BMW's motorcycles.

Porsche came along later......

oh NO Thats not right either LOL

Subaru NEVER copyed the designs from VW or Jowett as some may think.
It was an german outfit that subaru did buy the rights for the original motor.
BUT it was Borgward where the motor came from.
Acually LLoyd but still owned by Karl Borgward.
it came out of the LLoyd 900 also known as the Borgward Arrabella

The "Boxer" motor was designed by Karl Benz though?

Ever since the 1st internial combustion engines came out, the boxer configeruration has been used.
when did he make that?
he would had probley be one of the 1st.

ive seen very old industral magazine from before 1899 advertising an big industral motor. big flat 6 or even flat 8
looked awesum

Thats good to know, I heard somewhere they copied it from VW.

Some Karl Benz history: His first internal combustion engine design was patented in 1879 (designed in 1878). The first Boxer motor came to be in 1896.

Thats enough of this though. I dont want to hijack the OP's for sale thread.

Good luck with the sale!

Re: 1992 Subaru SVX 72k Miles

Now this could go on for years..... I seem to remember something about Porsche either being owned originally by VW or some of the designers moving over..... Don't quote me that was years ago..... but take a gander at this...
The next evolution of the "Boxer"......

The Opoc.... and the coolest part is, they are modular, you can actually combine up to 3 for some awesome power density

Re: 1992 Subaru SVX 72k Miles

Also, the SVX was sold as 1992-1997, with manufacturing i believe starting in early 1991, and models selling in late 1991, which would make it a 7 year production car, instead of a 5 year production car.
