Code 34 EGR Selenoid Valve Inoperative
As noted in the title, I'm getting a code 34 and am not sure how to tackle the fix. The car runs a bit rough and is also throwing a code 28, knock sensor. I just replaced the same one on SVX #1 so know how to tackle that. I checked at SubaruParts.com and there are a lot of pieces that make up the ERG system. Is thare just a valve you replace?
Your help will be appreciated. Gene

I'm lost but if I had to replace something my money would be on part 1 or 7.
Nothing else seems to have any moving parts.

Part 1 is $101.66, Part 9 $48.63. I was hoping to at least narrow it down.

They're both valves. :/ Maybe try removing them and seeing if either one is stuck or gummed up.

True but I figure at least one has to come out eventually. This way you might be unable to ungunk one if it's just gummed up with junk.

Re: Code 34 EGR Selenoid Valve Inoperative
For the next person who has an ERG problem, I found this excellent thread.
http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/show...valve+location Turned out I had printed it out a couple years ago but forgot I did. I'm going to give the non-replacement tips a try. Gene

I guess Beav hasn't been around for a while. This pic is quite useful.

Re: Code 34 EGR Selenoid Valve Inoperative
When I had the 34 code about 2 years ago it was caused by a EGR sensor that is mounted under the intake manifold on the right side of the car (passenger side). I do believe that there are two sensors, but thats the one the fixed my problems.
I hope this helps. Ken |
