Motorcycle Riders: Where do you buy tires?
Anyone know a cheap online store to buy motorcycle tires? The current ones on the bike are toast. I've been looking, but I haven't been able to find a site that lets me search by size. They all list the kind of tire, and you have to check every one to see what sizes they are available in. I'm getting frustrated with all that stupidity.

I get my dirt bike tires on line...usually through Rockymountian....as I install them myself..
None of my local shops will mount and balance a tire that they don't sell....so I get all my street bike tires at a local shop....

Chapparal Motorsports
http://www.chaparral-racing.com There are a few places that let you search via the tire size but motorcyclists tend to be much more anal about their tires since you have maybe 2 inches of tread touching the ground at any given time. You have 17s on both sides right? That should be an easy one. Plenty of choices to choose from. Me I'm stuck with either a Farley crappy touring tire or at best a 15 year old designed Bridgestone BT-45 duel compound (which is what I have and happy with). I like Chapparal simple because they're priced well, and shipping is free over 100, also the tires I've gotten through them are "new" tires not the standard 3 year old crap that has been sitting. They sell a lot!

You sure you got the right diameter sizes? That's an oddball to have a 18 rear vs. a 16 front. I would've thought it'd be equal front to rear with the sporty nature of the bike but still wouldn't be suprised to see a 19 front 16 rear but there isn't much advantage to having a 16 front and an 18 rear that I can think of. I wouldn't have thought honda would've done that since they're quite conservative. Never had an Avon but have heard good things, did you try asking what other owners have on 'em. I'm sure there is a forum around somewhere for the bike.

Yup, 18 rear 16 front.
I've found a couple forums for the early series V-Four Honda's, but they aren't too helpful. A while back the bike wouldn't start and had no spark, so I asked, and got about 2 pages of utterly useless replies, everything from "You're an idiot" to "Well I dout it's electrical, check the fuel system."

That's an odd setup to be sure. Good luck! I've gon through 4 sets of tires on my nighthawk 650 which uses a 130/90 16 rear and 100/90 19 front. Original tires-can't say anything good about as they were pushing 8-10 years old when I got 'em Kenda Cruz- Sucks in anything but dry, gets good wear though Conti Blitz- Okay but lasted 4k before the rear was square Bridgestone BT-45. Great tire, pricey but unstopable due to the duel compound. Fabulous braking, in rain, in dry, temps down to the high teens, only downside is they suck in snow. Expect about 6k out of the rear. I was going to try the Maxis duel compound V rated knock off which is about $50 a set cheaper but it was out of stock.

I really want to...the couch and bed frame belong to my aunt. She moved and left them with us because at the time her garage floor was only gravel. Concrete was poured about 18 months ago and those are still sitting here. I think it may be time to borrow a pickup and make a quick drop off. It's actually worse now, I have a fender sitting on the couch, a set of silver doors leaning against it, bits of exhaust piping, lawnmower, defunct Forester....

http://v4hondabbs.com/ If you ever have any trouble with the fuel pump let me know and I'll give you the info on how to swap in an AC Delco generic pump. OEM ones are discontinued, there's no aftermarket, and the closest thing is from an 83 Civic, but it really only works in the Sabre and Magnas.
