Whinning noise during acceleration???

Tom's does, but that's a good whine

It's probably your steering pump. If so, do a search on the O-ring replacement. It's the best $1 you'll ever spend (unless you're at a strip club in northeast pennsylvania)

beilive it or not my power stearing pump was just replaced because it went so it is all new with all new orings, the noise was the same before and after. toms is super charged right(im kinde new so correct me if im wrong) i wish i had that same whine

Is that only happened after at certain speed?

It could be from the drivetrains, tranny or front differential. Check the fluilds' conditions.

Ok so heres my issue.....

When I step on the gas now, I hear a noise that very muffled, and the best way I can describe it is... like an RC car motor, or a coffee grinder, or compressed air being blown into a garden hose.... something like that. Its very muffled and only happens as the throttle is pressed. The noise increases with more load on the engine..... but I can only hear it at slow speeds or from a stop.

Front diff? Checked oil level, its just above the low mark.

This didnt come on gradually, I just one day noticed the noise.

first guess is alternator whine. try doing it with the speakers off

I had similar symptom with '00 Outback some time ago; it turned out to be a muffler that rusted through - the air escaping from it made that sound.

Park, shift to neutral, step on gas and have somebody walk around your car listening - the perception of where the sound comes from could be different when you're inside.

I've got the dreaded whine every now and then it's my alternator if that helps... I'm getting a high output alt as soon as I get cash..

I sometimes hear whining when I step on the gas hard. It usually happens when my mum is in the passenger seat.

I had a bad gear whine in my 74' plymouth it even ended up affecting the stereo and was consistent with throttle position.

For the stereo it was a grounding issue, the gearing was a combination of harmonic vibration (I believe) and a gear oil change as well as fixing bushings so any vibration wasn't transfered to the chassis by poor bushings and bad rubber.

There are alot of places in the SVX where the rubber is worn out, this could cause more of a metal to metal contact and may be some of what you are hearing. Also tires can cause alot depending on tread. Good luck.
