Diesel. Is there any chance?
Your probably thinking buy a VW or a MB but, With gas prices being retarded and the obvious need to travel,(SVX style) I was wondering if anyone knew about any Diesel subaru engines That could possibly be fitted to the SVX? Or how difficult would it be to modify the heck out of an eg33 and the fuel system to accept it? After finding out about a conversion kit for Diesel engines that would allow them to run strictly on vegetable oil (used or new) My interest has been peaked.
hi yah!

I've seen stuff about a new Subaru diesel motor coming along, but I'm not sure if any exist yet, and I don't think you'll have much luck getting an EG33 to run on diesel without uber mods.

If you want to do this, wait till someone stuffs a diesel legacy in japan. Well actualy pray that its T-boned such that the gastank and other rear end parts survive.
I'd also advise a custom engine crossmember to make things work perfect up front. Then a hell of alot of time to get all the electronics dailed in perfect. Don't forget either a new "gas" tank modified to work with the 2009 emissions sensors and diesel fuel, or a fuel cell diesel approved, also modified to deal with the sensors n stuff. If you want to go wild sooner, get some external dimensions on the Duramx diesel, and the "Ford" V6 twin turbo diesel in the LCF. I'm not sure what other good(ish) V style diesel engines are out there so might be others. Hood hieght can be gained if you need it at the cost of suspension geometry. (and ground clearence). Custom engine crossmember a must here. |
