What kind of problems would a bad solenoid A cause?

Your transmission will shift with full line pressure all the time. This may be too hash for some.
The transmission also does weird things while coasting in 3rd gear. It's best to have a resistance that is not too high such that it sets off the error code and not too low that the transmission is slipping between gear changes.
