OT: Anyone see "Monster Garage"?

Just wondering if any of you caught "Monster Garage" on the discovery channel Sunday or Monday night.

Wonder what an SVX challenge would look like with an expenditure of $3000 and a week of work.

I caught the garbage truck / fire fighter episodes on Sunday night. Cool show, and I like the hour-long format that lets them focus on detail instead of rushing through it all.

It's edited poorly, though. They try to build suspense with that loud, deep voice asking, 'will this setback finish the team and cause them to fail?' And then in the next shot they interview a guy on the team - in front of the completed car. Yeah, a minor mistake, but the show is rife with stuff like that.

I dig it. Looks expensive to produce, but I hope that more of them get filmed.

Monday night they turned a new VW beetle into a Louisiana swamp buggy with the engine and propeller in the rear. They also turned a 5.0 Mustang ragtop into a lawn mower.

Part of the challenge is having to have it remain stock cosmetically from the outside

When does jesse james find the time to work on his bikes if he is always spending a week at a time on these projects? Sure is amassing a lot of Mac tools though...

If I catch anyone turning an SVX into a lawnmower, they're going to lose a lot more than grass!

Sounds like you might have a bad solenoid and binding up the blade. Why don't you stick your head down there and take a look while I rev up the engine?
