snow tires/wheels

I know this has been posted on a lot before, but can someone recommend a place to get some cheap (but not crap) steel wheels that will fit the svx. i am getting either 205/60/16 or 215/55/16 tires. tirerack.com tell sme they have no tire and wheel packages for winter for svx. bahh. any help woul dbe appreciated.

Ford Probe wheels work nicely. I have 205's on mine.

Use the original rims with the snow tires and get nice rims for the rest of the year.

that would be ideal, but the budget says otherwise. thanks for the input guys, i will just mount them on the originals and hope i can save some money to get new summer wheels and tires.

Last year was the first SK winter that my SVX had gone through, and MAN did I have wheel/tire problems. The biggest pain in the arse were the constant flats I'd wake up to. When it's -40C the wheels change shape and (some days) pop the tire clean off the wheel. This happened on different wheels about 4 times last year. I have summer wheels and tires, but I can't deal with the stock wheels in wintertime again this year because of these problems.

Steelies. I want them. They are cheap and won't have the same problems I have with my stock wheels. I need the very cheapest steelie & cheapest winter tire combo I can get my grubby little hands on. Would Crappy Tire be a good place to start my search? It's already snowing and freezing here so I gotta get on this.

I've only ever had one flat tire which was likely caused by the cold. This is with stock rims and the same weather you get.

CT may have rims but they won't find any in their system. You will need to find other cars that share the same rim dimensions as the SVX. Have them try looking for steelies for the 05 STi or RX7's.

lots of steelie options really.....check discounttire.com for fitments..

try walmart....i've used their cheapie snow tires for years and have had no complaints.

still cant find steelie's.. checked discounttire, no packages for svx 16".. are the only dimensions i need to know diameter, width, lug spacing and offset?

Just wondering if these 205-60-16 and 215-55-16's sizes can also be used for all season tires instead of the deeper tread winter tires. Will they fit inside the wheel well without being to high and possibly hitting or rubbing the shock tower strut. The reason I ask is that I have the 225-50-16's and they are a bit to fat and noisy and would like a bit slimmer size with a little more rubber between the road and rim.When I put my hand in between the tire and strut tower there is not much room to go much higher as in a possible 55 sieres size.I was thinking of going to a Nokian WR 215-55-16 for an all season instead of the 225' Toyo's that are on now.On a tire calculator the 55's are a bit taller than the 50's.

They will fit fine. They are both narrower than stock.

Try searching for Mazda Millenia wheels. Perfect for winters. The narrower tires are better for snow. They cut through rather than ride up on top.
