fan issues
so, i have an intersting problem. For about a month and a half now. my fans will not come on. i know the problem isnt related to the AC, because they have worked before with out the AC system running (no coolant, so i dont use it at all) But now, they dont turn on when they should. I start to run hot at idle, but once i start to drive it goes down to normal. I have looked at the fuses, and the relays and i still have no idea whats wrong. HELP!!

Have you tried applying direct voltage to the fan moter? If so what was the result?
Best of luck |

AC fuse?
Check the AC fuse in you engine compartment fuse box. It this 10 amp fuse is bad the fans will not come on.
I discover this as I had the AC compressor bearing sieze and it shorted out the AC clutch (blowing the fuse). Disconnected the connector on top of the AC Compressor and replace the fuse and fans came back to life.

I had the same problem when I first bought my SVX. First, unplug the engine temperature sensor, and start the car. If the fans stay on the entire time, then the culprit is either the sensor, or the fan relays in the fuse box under the hood. The best way to figure this out is to re-connect the engine temperature sensor, pull all of the fan relays, and plug them back in in different spots. They cant all be bad, and you should eventually get the good ones in the right order to start either the right or left fan.
New relays run about $60 |
