Arrived

Mine arrived today. A few bent fins, but otherwise ok. I will admit, though, that I have seen considerably smoother and uniform welds before.

Cap postion?? In the slot that the cap hold down tabs ride in there is an indented place at the center position. I am pretty sure that this is where the cap should be positioned. You can depress it to take it off OR push it further off center. This would cause the problem previously identifed in here.

Got mine Monday evening. In perfect unblemished condition, a thanks to the shipper and PWR for the great packing. It's a work of art!! Is the general consensus to continue to use the auxiliary trans cooler, in addition to the new and improved 5-pass?? Just need those Silicone hoses and a couple of hours. Good opportunity to drain and refil the trans as well. I really don't see the cap as being an issue, as once it's engaged nothing changes as you turn it all the way tight.

Smile radiator received

UPS delivered Monday evening, box was well packed. there was a rip in the box during shipment, but seems to only affect the foam packing, radiator looks fine. No fins bent, all squared away. My cap is in the same position as it was on my stock radiator, directly parallel with the tank. It was diagonal as received, but when you tighten it to the closed position it is perfect. Will not install till the next weekend due to time constraints, and plan to forgo auxilliary cooler.
thanks again to Chris, et al, tht made this group buy a success.

Yeah, my Cap sits at an angle at full tight. It has started to leave a scratch under my hood.

Tight?

HoHo,

Are you sure you are not moving your radiator cap PAST the correct tight position? I suspect you might be. Is there a place in the middle that is not at tight as when you force it on to the right?

No it is a little off. When I go to take my cap off after hood has moved it I only have to turn it like 1/4 turn and it releases pressure.

Possibility if any are left. Give em' a call, the number is a few pages back. We've basically lost count from the original 40. I think there are 3 or 4 left.

got mine today and it is beautiful. I am glad I waited but it would have been nice to have it sooner. Anyway, I will not be ijstalling it until the hoses come in. No fins bent on mine everyhting is perfect except the whole cap situation. Will try to pick up a cap with no tabs or just cut mine off.

Heat damage... Possible?

I have been considering the problem with the cap in contact with the hood...
I have a question for those who have installed the rad in question...
Will a PWR rad, with a challenged clearance at the cap, also be in closer poximity to the hood at the apex of the body of the rad in question? Compared to OEM rad of course...

In other words...

I am wondering about discoleration of paint due to excessive heat from the top of the rad... What is the difference between OEM clearance and PWR clearances at the cap and body?

Thanx

Wow.. Good point. Especially in desert climates such as mine.
This "drop in OEM replacement" has a flaw that may be worse than we think.

A work of art

After all said and done these units are nice. Doesn't appear cap will be a problem. Packaging was great...welds looked nice. It will be nice to cruise in the summer knowing the rad won't ruin a trip, or engine. Maria supplied a tracking number so you can watch your unit hit your home town via the internet. There's even a nifty pwr decal in the packing slip. It's nice knowing you have one of the 40 units...happy trails

Hood

I don't think the heat will be an issue with the paint. The cap on my radiator does not get that hot and it is only the slight edge of the ear that hits. I don't think it will be an issue.
