thanks guys for your input,
belive me, i tried patching my stupid radiator. i tried at least five separate times, different patching methods, compounds, drained radiator...i feel like i took every extra precaution to make sure i had the best luck, to no avail. i have gotten sick of such a small problem hindering my ability to drive my car consistently, and i have left it in the garage for the last four months due to annoyance. im getting my tax refund soon, so im going to just buy a new one and be done with it. my plan is to get a quote on a new one from liberty subaru, and take it to my local subaru dealership and see if they can honor the price...i just dont want to deal with shipping. (maybe they even have one in stock)

Let me know what price you get. My patch is not holding either.

My Dealer (in Naperville) wants $450. I checked Libertyville Subaru and they wanted $490.

What, or where, is Liberty Subaru?

Rich

group buy thread

the group buy thread for the new Rads are at the top of the list on the technical Q&A forum. I think there is one or two left, gettem while they are hot. I think that this might just be the item to prevent alot of costly repairs. I.E. Tranny troubles.

The Rads should be out the doors in just a day or two now, if they are not already ready.

hey,
thanks for helping me find that group buy...looks interesting. 450 is a bit more than i wanted to spend though. i will consider it.
liberty subaru is a dealership that gives us good prices on subaru parts, so it seems, but they are located far from here (i forget which state) someone said that we could get a radiator for under 300, but im not really sure who we need to talk to for that price. if anyone has any more info on this please let me know.

Liberty Subaru is in new jersey i think. They are the people you can get a rad for under 300 from.

I recently got a new radiator from 1srSubaruParts.com for $310 + shipping (I think shipping was around $15-$25). They are out of Washington I believe ... that might help.

Subaruparts.com is now asking $355. For $95 more you can get the all aluminum rad with supposedly better trans cooler thru the group buy. I broke down and orderd one today. They have 7 or 8 left at $450. The next batch will be $599.

They can be reached at 877- 656-9256

good luck

Thumbs up

Looks great! Any problem with hood clearance? The cap looks a little higher.

BTW.......As a Domer, I think I recognize that LP!

Clearance

It clears ok, however I am going to have them reweld a new neck on because the tabs for the cap are around 30 degrees off. The ears on the cap barely tap the hood because of the angle, they are either going to fix it or I'll get a radiator cap with no ears. It is a very nice piece of work and I feel worth every penny.

Sorry, but this is a **slight** hijack of this thread... I'd like to figure out a way to meet the locals sometime. I live in Woodridge, IL. If there's a meet or something or simply wanna have a beer after work one day, let me know!

I should have my radiator available in a few days. When i get may all aluminum i will have no need for my old one. 200+ shipping sounds fair, I am in jersey.
