Michael,

Sharp looking tires. Look a lot like mine!! LOL First time I've used Pirelli instead of Bridgestones, they ride very nicely, Thanks again.

Nice job on the Stage 1 chip too!!

Would the 255/35's work with an 18" X 8" rim with 40MM offset? Are we any closer to working out the math on what will and won't fit?

Thanks again,

Jonathan

Glad you are happy with them. (for those of you wondering Jon is now the owner of the 225's I replaced with these 255's) Nope, I think if you mounted 255's on your wheels that the back tires would rub on the outside.

That's what I was afraid of. But in light of this being my daily driver and not a racer, I don't know that I would need steamrollers like that anyway.

They do look sharp though.

Bigger tires are more weight and svx's already stop well so if you don't have a stage II and need traction you are right that you are better off with the 225's.

255/35R18's

Doesn't that size have a slightly larger overall diameter than stock? I think the 245/35R18 are almost identical to stock. Is your speedo off?

I guess it depends on how you look at it. Using the equation to calculate overall tire diameter,

[(width X aspect ratio)X2] / 25.4 + Rim size

I come up with...

factory size P225/50R16=24.858"

P245/35R18=24.751"

P255/35R18=25.0275

So, I guess each is close, one is slightly larger, one is slightly smaller. It may affect the speedo and final drive slightly.

Here is an Offset calculater that someone just posted on USMB...

http://toy4two.home.mindspring.com/offset.html

It won't answer all your questions, but can't hurt either...

Unfortunately ECUtune Stage II was removed as part of the Stage III set up process so we won't be getting 1/4 mile times for stage two from our own test vehicle anytime soon. Will stage III times be good?

Correct. Different brands and types of tires having different rolling circumferences. For example, in the stock size 16" 225/50 series tires, an all season M+S tire with a treadwear rating of 400 will have deeper tread (and thus a greater rolling circumference) than a summer only high performance tire with a 160 treadwear rating...

Compare the specs on similarly sized tires at the Tirerack to see what Longassname is getting at.

Like Mike wanna be like Mike.
Mine are ROH Drift R's. ROH makes other wheels in the same width and offset. In fact you can get 17's in the same width and offset though I wouldn't get 17" drift r's...the big lips make the center sections look smaller so larger wheels look better. You can get the roh fury or the roh rt in 17's in the shadow chrome for a lot less than the drift r's.
