Can someonr tell me step by step, how to use the chat room?
I entered the chat room and there is a large gray rectangle in the middle of it. I tried typing into it but nothing appears to happen.
I think it's me.

here is how you get into the chat room. When you Click on link "Live Chat!" , it will take you to a window which asks you for server, name, nickname and email is optional. Leave the sever name as it is and fill out the other part and then click on the link below which says "take me to chat" or something liket that. That link will take you to a new chat window and you can type there. I just tried it before writing this. I hope you get it. See you around. ravi.

Thanks for the info. My screen does not take me to the window that asks for all the data.

On the top it shows the network logo with the Christmas tree.

Below that there are 3 main sections, left middle & right.

Left Side:
There is a gray heading bar that says "Topics"
Under that, in red, is listed "SVX News (2)"
Beneath that is another gray header bar that says "Site Navigation".
Under that, in red, all the forums are listed.

Middle:
There is a large, gray rectangular window.
Above this window is "[News Index | Search| Contribute News | Links | Contact ] " . All the words inside the brackets are in bold print and underlined.

Right Side:
There is a gray heading bar that says, "Users in chat room NOW".
Under that is "SVXBot". I guess he's in the chat room now.


That's all there is except for the "copyleft" stuff at the bottom of window. Can someone help?

Well the live chat option from the web is a JAVA applet. If you are only getting a gray square, I am guessing that you either have JAVA applets turned off, or you have an older client that does not support that feature. May I suggest getting mirc or virc to accomplish the task of getting into the chat room? Its a little more complicated, but well worth it. I will see if I can make a bit of time to author a turtorial on how to get, install, and configure such IRC client software. Right now unfortunatley, time is a bit limited and I must be off. Good luck!

what version of Internet Explorer are you using?? I would suggest you go on www.microsoft.com and download the latest version 6.0 of Internet Explorer. It faster than any other previous version. I am running that on my computer. I had version 5.0 before and I was having a lot of problem on this site. I couldn't post any replies from that version. see if it solves the problem.

While we are talking abuot this why does it tell me that my handle "0260N4" contains illegal charaters? Then proceeds to tell me that Im not registered. I feel unwanted *snif* I think ill get over it though. One more thing to talk about with my therapist.

where does it exactly tell you that you have illegal characters?? and how were you able to then post on this site if browser was telling you that you are not registered?

Thanks Aredubjay, I can't tell you how comforting that remark was. Oh well I guess its back to self medication for me!

On an unrelated note it says I have illegal characters in the chat window right after it opens. But I can have them as long as they weigh less than a half ounce right? I just cant sell them?

I guess something I wrong with your browser becuase I just went to chat and entered letters and numbers and nothing happened. what browser are you using and what version ??
