Drilled rotors worth it??
I am in the market for new rotors, on the front at least. Is it worth getting drilled rotors? Are there really any advantages/disadvantages to getting them over regular rotors? Is there a major price differance? Thanks in advance.

If a ventilated disk, like ours is crossed drilled it interferes with the way centrifugal force flows cool air through the center of the disk. The air enters in the center of the disk at the hub, forcing it through the vents to exit at the out side edge, taking the heat with it. The holes cause air to leak out and in at the wrong places, causing uneven cooling. Another downside to drilled rotors is that they have a tendency to crack over time.
The drilling of the rotors actually causes minute 'stress' cracks to form around the holes. Over time these cracks become enlargened leading to rotor failure. Slotted or dimpled rotors are a much better buy... -Chike
