How do I top-up front diff oil?
I checked the dipstick on the front diff the other day and found it to be well below the minimum level.
I don't know how it got low, because I haven't seen any evidence of leaks. It could have been that way for a while because I generally only check the engine oil and the tranmission fluid. Anyway, the service manual tells me what sort of oil to add, but not where to add it. I can't see any sort of filler hole. Do I have to pour it down the dipstick hole? Phil. |

Phil, Yes, you'll need to fill through the dipstick hole. Obviously, caution needs to be taken not to overfill. You'll need one of those funnels that looks like a "Trumpet." The longer the spout, the better. If available, a long, bendable "gooseneck" funnel would serve best.
