Transmission Musings
Hi Gang,
I just posted this on the Yahoo SVX Club site. My copy/paste function still is not working on my home coputer so I'm retyping it here. I was just thinking about the 4EAT in our SVX. The new Outback H-6 engine is very close to our engine in HP & Torque. The new VDC & LL Bean model station wagons are heavy cars and are rated for towing, which puts extra load on the tranny. I believe that this Outback tranny is a further development of the 4EAT and might be a "Good " replacement for the one in our SVX. There are many questions. Can this tranny carry the load imposed by the SVX? Will it physically fit? Will it work it our TCU. Maybe Danny-Bosco or Suby-QA can address some of these issues. Just some thougts from my weird mind. Larry III |

Larry III:
Great idea, Larry! One of those things that are so obvious you never even think about it......be even better if it turns out that it works.....personally, I don't have a clue - but it seems like it would likely fit. Looking forward to comments from the techies! svxxx26

SVxxx26,
I was informed that the new tranny is NOT a direct bolt up. But maybe an adapter can be made or the guts of the new tranny can fit in our SVX tranny casing. Larry III |
