Trannie problems....
So, I've had the power steering, had the rear bearings so thought that I would complete the set with the trannie....
The car is a 91 Jap import. I got it at 50k miles with previous history unknown. Mileage looked genuine. Been serviced on the dot ever since, including ATF changes. Now has 92k on the clock Some symptoms..... First thing when cold, when putting into reverse, really sharp thump. If I do the same thing with the manual button pressed, no problem. Usually no problem for the rest of the day Under medium acceleration, a bit of vibration in second and third Changes becoming increasingly hard - even when driving at 5-15 mph, you really feel the thump from 1-2 Changes during normal acceleration have always been ok, but has the 'braking effect' especially 2-3, which I assume to be the brake band adjustment I checked the resistor some time ago and from memory it was in the 30's ohms No fault codes showing So, there you are. Should I start breaking open the kids' piggy banks yet??? Thanks in advance for your help Tony |

The 'thumps' would indicate to me that you could have a bad transmission mount. I would also check the resistor again. The braking effect is indicative of a malfunctioning resistor in many cases.

The resistor should measure 15ohms or less (to about 8ohms)
30 is too high and sounds like it's starting to fail.
