What brands of CD-Rs will work in the SVX player?

Unfortunately, the laser assemblies in CD players are pretty delicate, and heat, dust, and use degrade their performance until ultimately they have to be replaced. They also have a very definite life cycle, and eventually just plain wear out no matter how careful you are with them.

I'm amazed that the stock player in my '92 SVX does so well. I've had CD players at home that haven't lasted anywhere near this long.

same as everyone else. everything i have used works except these crappy ones i got from circuit city that were free. but they dont even work on my computer hehe

I've got a Sony CD player (stand alone for an in-home component stereo system) from 1986 that plays CDRs. This I found pretty amazing. The thing has been used extensively and never been worked on.

No matter what brand, the same, actually, very similar digital information (0s and 1s) is printed on the CD. So there's no way a noticable variation in sound quality can exist between brands of CDRs.
Looks like people still need to get out of their cassete tape/analog recording mentality.

Well, as I listen to MD's far more than CD's, we can say that I am definitely out of analog land.

Mine is stock and about 50% of the CDRs I attempt to play end up skipping every 20 seconds. I'm thinking it's time to replace it.
