Tone Wheel
Took the front rotors of my daughters car to day because they are shaking badly when you apply the brakes. Was going to have them turned when I noticed the TONE Wheel was broken.
Was curious what this does and if I have to have a matched set of them. Also looks like I have to pull the hub in order to replace. Anybody have any experince with this Jay Mercer |

the SVX rotors were inadequate for this heavy car to begin with - if you turn them they will just be warping again real soon. i'd replace them, or better yet, get some nice aftermarket ones. there are many brands out there, but i'd recommend the ART cryogenic-treated slotted rotors. they will probably outlast my car.

Don't worry about the rotors, cut them, torque the wheels down and if they warp again then consider replacing them.
The tone wheels can be replaced individually. Yes, the hub has to be removed to replace them. The hub has to be pressed out of the bearing to do so. It is surprising that the ABS warning light isn't on (or is it?) Most cars won't generate a pulse with a broken ring. When the car begins rolling and the ABS computer sees three wheel sensors reporting a pulse, and nothing from the fourth, it will kick a code and disable the system.
