SVX Powered Airplane

Found this while -ing svx pictures. We all know that they like to steal our engines and put them in all kinds of things, that's nothing new. But I love the color scheme on the engine so I thought I would share.

Yeah, that color schemes looks really good. I especially liked that it gets 'as little as 9.5 gallons of auto fuel per hour during cruise flight'... Good thing i don't own a plane

Just being able to use 91 octane instead of AV gas is a huge savings in itself.

but consider just how far the plane goes in an hour (400 miles = ~42 miles/gallon)

And the engine will be doing that traveling backwards from what it was used to.

But it's not enough he put a car engine in a plane — he's thinking of eventually adding floats so he can land it on water.

It sounds like he's had a competent company modify the engine to be reliable in the air. Unlike this guy from several years back. I wonder if that engine made it back into a car.

Here if you are lucky enought to no some one, Avgas is cheaper than 91/98

I wonder if he had to make any special modifications to the engine to have it run at that high of an RPM for an extended period of time. As far as I know, I don't think they really have transmissions, so it would have to be going near red line at all times. I don't know much of anything about planes though so I may be totally off on that. I did hear of some guy getting like 350hp out of an EG33 though that was putting it into airplanes. I thought I remembered some guys here were trying to get in touch with him to figure out how he did it.

those have been used on drag cars up to 1000hp...
