Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Finally got my AC system recharged

Got the system vacuumed down to less than 1000 microns and then filled it with R-414B!

It's super cold now

It cost me $25

Participated in the Palomar Mountain Run yesterday with friends from Zcsd and Socal Datsun. My first car run with my SVX. It was a great time!

I removed a stuck and snapped exhaust bolt off the header flange. What a PITA.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

I just had the rear suspension worked on and for that we all know the rear interior panels need to be removed. I planned a lot of work that needed to be done while all the panels were out so I tackled several items on the list.

Replaced the rear speakers and a light dynamat and padded foam/vinyl install in the back and trunk.

Also replaced the rear tail light with a JDM unit. It needed some heavy polishing, so 2500 grit sandpaper and Maguiar's plastic polish made it look like new.

I also replaced the lower rear left and right window trim while I had all the panels off.

Cleaned and waxed the trunk lid while the tail light unit was out...

Old... new.

Cleaned off the body panels before intalling. Had loads of accumulated dirt and debris.

New rear window trim on left and old door trim on right. Doors will be done next month.

Really proves that the little things make all the difference.

Found and replaced this. Noticed it start leaking two days ago and got really worried because a lot of cooland was pooled under the intake. But as soon as I had time today, I let it warm up until the thermostat opened and it was easy to spot spraying out of this crack in the upper rad hose. Fortunately, I had a spare. Took all of ten minutes.

You should check out the lower hose as well.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Was sick of my beat-up front bumper with the cracks in the paint, and the chipped hood, so I ordered a front end cover. It arrived today:

I'm not a huge fan of them, but it looks a heck of a lot better. Now to find a clean LF fender (this one has all kinds of weird gray spots in it I can't get out) and repaint the rear spoiler and put it on.

That looks really good man, I really like what you've done with the car. Polish up the headlights/grille (or switch to a 97 grille) and it's absolutely perfect, IMHO. I love the white ones.

Nice wheels. Have you ever gotten a quote on repainting the front?

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Thanks! The pearl paint is the killer, and if they repaint the bumper I'd get the fenders and hood done too (paint chips). There is a fender and bumper at a junkyard about 2 hours from me- I may go get them and swap them on. That would leave the rust in front of the right rear wheel and the dented left rear corner to fix.
