Resonator=glasspak?

I'm getting ready to replace my stock muffler w/ a sweet magnaflow.
while under the car last eve, figuring out location and such, i was scoping the resonator.
Is it basically a glasspack to knock down some exhaust tone?
Since it appears to be, any glasspacks better than others?
cherrybomb, etc, blah blah blah?
I ask becuz i plan on building headers, dual to where the resonator is now, then single pipe to muffler.
so if the res is a glasspak should i run 2 of them in dual section or run a single pak after merge? i'm leaning toward a single, 1/2 the weight
But just doin the muffler for now.
Workin on figuring out supplies for the rest of the exhaust job.
