Front windshield wiper
I have adjusted the front wiper a bunch of times.
It is never right. It ALWAYS travels too far. In both modes it travels too far. So my question is does the motor travel in circles or does it go back and forth. My feeling is that the motor goes back and forth and the stops in the motor are messed up. But if the motor travels in circles then my guess it would be the wiper transmission. |

Re: Front windshield wiper
I had my motor out before, it goes in circles, it's the rods/mechanism that gives the back forthmovement.

Re: Front windshield wiper
When the wiper linkage wears out it will allow you to move the wiper back and forth when the wiper is not running.
Subaru uses plastic bushings and they are not servicable from any source that I know of.

Re: Front windshield wiper
Mine linkage is tight.
I have the right size blades. Got a part number for the transmission? |

Re: Front windshield wiper
One of mine does this, and once the wiper blade assembly even came apart on its return from beyond the A-pillar. I finally got it adjusted to keep it from going too far left, but it sits awfully hard on the bump stop. It's really strange; on the upswing, the thing never stops in the same place. Just slop in the mechanism, I guess.
See "How-To Documents" for part numbers. dcb |
