Activities for Reading 13

Time is getting short (102 days). Anyone with ideas for activities for this year's Reading meet, post them here.
I haven't heard too much in the way of raffle items so far. Presently, all we have is a new 160A high-output alternator (generously re-donated back to the network by fun173, after winning it last year. He sold his SVX before he could install it.) This item may be a silent auction item

Any other ideas, post them here.

Re: Activities for Reading 13

On April 28th The Maple Grove Raceway is having a
"Grudge Racing/Test and Tune".
I plan on drag racing at least one SVX!

I have another idea for a parking lot "function/event?"
More on that tomorrow.

Whats the chance that there is a "drive in" in the area?
The Princess Bride and Office Space come to mind...
We COULD project a movie onto one of those huge white tractor trailors andd set up our own drive in!

Re: Activities for Reading 13

How about a roundtable discussion on common topics? We will have some of the most respected folks there and we could lay out what we know are facts, theories and disproven myths. The main topic that comes to mind is the transmission. What is/was wrong and what can/should/shouldn't be done about it. The same discussion can occur with tranny alternatives like the various older 4EATs and the various 5MTs and 6MTs.

A similar discussion can be had with regards to the headgaskets or any other issues people want to see a consensus about.

Another idea would be a roast. We could roast Tom or Nate or someone else.......

I would personally like to make sure the entertainment from last year is at the hotel again. That was.....entertaining.

Activities for Reading 13: National March Against The War On Women

I realize that this topic probably means little to many of you, but perhaps there are a few women (or women sympathizers) who think that this issue is more important than their car.

I plan on driving to Harrisburg, PA to join the march, as is is occurring simultaneously in Washington, DC and all 50 state capitals (at least that's the plan).

As I have stated on my Facebook page, I am beyond the age where any legislation regarding women's reproductive issues can affect me directly, but I have nieces who have yet to face those choices and make those decisions and I believe they should have the right to make INFORMED decisions with the help of their doctors, not the government. The women who came before us fought too hard for us to let them take it all away.

If anyone wants to join me, please do. I am not familiar with the Harrisburg area, so if anyone can offer me advice and/or the benefit of their experience regarding that metropolitan area, it would be GREATLY appreciated.

The march is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. so there will still be plenty of time for SVX-related fun!

If you are completely unaware of any of this or these issues, there is a TON of information out there. http://stopthewaronwomen.com/whats_at_stake/ is just one.

Harry,

Actually, that's the legislation that forced me to get on board. I started reading up on all of the other misogynistic bills being introduced (and passed!) by legislators out there (some are WOMEN!!!) and it got my blood to boiling. I could not BELIEVE what they proposed! And it's just the latest in a series of my-religious-beliefs-trump-your-personal-freedoms bills being passed around the country.

Oh, and on a side note, Rush Limbaugh will burn in HELL. With any luck, while he is still alive and we can watch. (Post in on YouTube, ok?)

But if you vote for my boy Ricky you won't need to make those decisions. He and the Pope will handle that stuff for you. If you're in need of a pit stop on the way up or back feel free to stop by here: http://www.coolcarsforcatsandcanines.com/index.html

Ben,

No need to worry, I have NO intention of voting for that FANATIC!!!!!

I'm fully on board with you and Dr. Paul, only I fear there won't be enough support for him. And since the Republicans are leaving themselves with only UNELECTABLE MADMEN, it looks like Obama may get another term.

It's not the WORST thing that could happen, anyway. ("President Santorum re-writes constitution to rule out all religions in U.S. except his own...... Pope is ecstatic...... Details at 11")

P.S. Did you see where someone has introduced legislation to provide birth control for HORSES? LOL Only in America....

Should I bring all of Tom's and my rescues, too? They may not fit in my SVX!
