cam sprocket tool of choice
I have searched for a cam sprocket tool, the one I tried was a piece of caca. What do you use? I have one cam sprocket off and no way to remove the 2nd. Do not buy a Lisle 38220 universal cam adjuster, too flimsey for our 80-94 ft lb of torque.
What do you use?

Does it work on right and left side sprockets?

Any issue with placing a socket on the sprocket bolt? Does your holder get in the way of bolt? Is the 1/2" of bolt enough for the left sprocket, would 1" to 1.5" work better? I used a 24" breaker bar, the bolt I removed was way tight. Dave

OK, Tom you are my hero. I don't have a welder so here's my version of your sprocket tool.
The steel bar is actually a steel stake that is used to hold concrete forms in place for slabs, it's 36" long, 1.5" wide, 5/16" thick. I drilled 3/8" holes at 2 5/8" on center. As you will see in the pics, I used 2 nuts on each bolt and cut hex end off, the bolts protrude 1.5". Worked like a champ. To remove the passenger side sprocket I duct taped the bar to the underside of the A/C compressor and taped the bolt end in the sprocket holes so it wouldn't move around when I reefed on the breaker bar. If anyone wants to try this go to Home Depot or Lowe's and buy the steel stake, they are available in several lengths. What ever size bolt you decide to use, get a "carbon steel" drill bit. Now, on to the cam seal and plug removal mysteries.

It also aided in pulling the cam oil seals & plugs. As a stake it has nail size hole every 6", I used nails to pull with, I put the head of the nail thru a hole in the stake then attached a vise grip, with the bent end of the nail in a hole drilled in the seal/plug, a little leverage and the seal/plug doesn't resist much. Gez, the fun is nearly over

I'm liken my new sprocket tool, cam plugs and seals are in, sprockets back on and torqued, took about a minute a side to install and torque them
