They said it couldn't be done... [ before & after ]
(original thread here)
Took the SVX into the local school body shop in November shortly after it was wrecked and picked it up today. The total bill was $1,200. It's not perfect, but it's definitely driveable now and they did pretty good considering what they had to work with. I'm glad to have at least one SVX I can drive for the time being.... unfortuantely, I don't think I'll proceed to doing everything I had originally planned with it being the minor imperfections are enough to bother me skin deep and instead will probably try to find another LSL in the future, blue in color with low miles to officially make as my 'project' car. I will however, drive the living **** out of this one. Before: and After (safe and sound in my garage): Love.... ;-) after all... The Laguna Lives!

I would have parted that one out but, having a son that went through automotive tech school and worked similar miracles in some of the most incredible shop set-ups, if anyone out there has a tech school close to them, go for it. Like Subix said, not perfect but a new life that can be enjoyed.

Re: They said it couldn't be done... [ before & after ]
And a good learning experience for a bunch of kids.
I had a motor swap done on a 1980 Pontiac Phoenix FWD many, many moons ago at a local school. It took most of a winter but cost me next to nothing other than the motor. Funny thing was the kids working on the car weren't all that much younger than I was at the time. I just didn't know anything much about cars back then. Awesome! Great job getting her drivable again. I would probably do the same in your position if something happened to my car.

Quote:
They seemed to really dig the car and one said "looks like a DeLorean" and none of them initially knew what it was and was surprised to learn that it was a Subaru.

Subix, thanks for the slap on the back of my head. In retrospect, I would do everything possible to make my SVX whole again.

Glad to see another saved from the crusher. For some odd reason this reminded me of these. Some of you might be old enough to remember them
