Hey, year ago I had no idea what I was doing. Thanks to various member's help especially Subareak, I have been able to become pretty well versed in the ways of swapping.

I dont know, I've seen what happens when you get behind the wheel of a modified 6-Speed SVX. I dont want to see a large cloud of smoke coming from my car.

New pics up. Still waiting on a few parts listed below. All but the rear axles are secured and shipped. I have a bead on a set of rear axles but I had to buy the R180 along with them... Anyone need a 3.90 r180??

I can find you a full swap for $3600 if you want... Just gonna need about a month or so until he gets his stock in again. Unfortunately Mike's car came kind of last minute so running around for parts got exhausting and expensive

Tom

$3,600 for a 6-speed swap? Is that with the STi axles also? How much to get this same exact set-up but with a 5mt?

Yes... BTW has anyone else every done a FWD to AWD conversion?? I would have to say it is probobly one of the more difficult things to do. The subframes alone took 2.5 days to complete the swap

thanks Eric, I have been working really hard to get this done. This summer should be fun with doing Mike's 5mt conversion and ur AWD auto conversion. wanna buy a FWD trans?? I am going to replace the spider gears in the carrier as that is what I believe to be bad in his differential. Too many burnouts lead to dead differentials.

Enjoy to follow this thread, Tom!

Question:
Why do you want to go to school? When are you going to graduate?

When you graduate, are you still going to look for a job? (try to get your hands cleaner?)

Well, the rear subframes are very similar..but the fwd rear subframe is missing a few things. It doesnt have two large bushing bungs (Instead they are just holes) and its missing the studs to mount the rear diff. I think there was something else but it escapes me at the moment. Anyhow, you COULD modify your fwr rear subframe to work...but youd have to cut parts off an awd subframe. Why cut and weld (And probly screw it up) when the part is already at your disposal?
One thing that makes the fwd to manual awd an easy swap is that with a manual transmission, there's no TCU. The driver is actually the TCU at that point. Anyhow, Im 90% sure that the TCU for the fwd transmission is diffrent from the TCU for an al wheel drive transmission. So you would need to swap those out as well. Mmmmm....Wires...
If your saving up for college you may wan to keep the fwd tranny for now. Its less likely to explode (Unless your running a super charger or Nitros)
Only reason Im converting mine.....itll be free. Well...you said you hava a parts car..so I guess itll be free for you too.
Go for it
