Completion of the Stage III 6-speed

The 6-speed conversion has started.

The FWD sadly requires a little extra work. The rear subframe doesnt have the mounting points for the rear. here's a few pictures.

Looks like you may need some upgraded bushings for the rear differential :D

Seems you've got a good start on your conversion there!

swap is comming along very well. Still need a couple things but I am doing what I can with what I have. BTW Mike, the 5mt starter will work with the 6speed trans so that means a wrx starter will work as well..... Not sure about the legacy starters etc.... I will see if that guy still has his for sale.... $35 you cannot beat. Still need a set of rear axles for an Sti if anyone has them...

Will it be at Reading?

NikFu S. 03-11-2006 10:25 AM

Whoa cool. I was wondering what you were doing since the thing went boom.

TomsSVX 03-11-2006 10:33 AM

Yes it will be at Reading as long as Mike can make it there. With any luck I will have the parts to finish it by next weekend. My source for a 3.90 R160 failed so now I am frantic trying to find R180 axles. Starter should not be an issue as the 5mt starters are a dime a dozen... Loading pics, will be up shortly

I hear you can buy those online at certain novelty shops. Not sure what that has to do with this, though.

;) :D

TomsSVX 03-11-2006 02:25 PM

Ok, quick post before I go to work. Shift linkage has been tacked... all 4 peices are ready to be fitted. Once I know they are right... it is off to the races with the rest of the car. I will try and take more pics tonight but cannot promise anything. Mike, looks like all we will be waiting on this week is parts as I should have it "mostly" done tomorrow
