differences between 5spd and 6spd wrx trannies
so as far as a swap is concerned, what all needs to be changed if I already have the 5spd if I wanna upgrade eventually to say a newer than 02 sti or the 07 sti 6spd?

Transmission, obviously. Otherwise, the x-member, rear diff, and clutch. The driveshaft needs to be swapped back to the SVX's stock one. If you run an R180 rear diff you'll need to notch the rear x-member and pick up some STi axles. And possibly some other stuff.

If you have a cable clutch now, you will need to swap over the hydroulic pedals as well
