Better yet, would the 5eat work with the SVX? Having had 3 4eat vehicles (SVX, and wife's WRX and FXT), i can say that the 4eat is a POS compared to the 5eat i had in the Legacy GT. I cringe when i have to drive the FXT - it just feels so ancient and crude.

I used to use the shifter for manual shifting, but the steering wheel controls were nice to gear down quickly in snow, or for slowing down to pass a cop without lighting up the brake lights.

I dont follow the technical forums here much anymore, so has s 5eat been thrown in an SVX yet?

Have read about ideas like this in older threads. What I remember is that Young Tom did a Phase 2 4EAT swap into one, and that was supposed to pave the way for a 5EAT, with paddle shifters. But the wiring was a PITA and took a long time, and there was a small issue they couldn't figure out how to get around with the torque control or something.

There is little to no documentation of his efforts here on the forums also, so the best way to start would be to talk to him directly.

So, yes, it could be done, I am sure. But I'm also pretty sure no one will be willing/able to attempt it.
