It's a million times easier if you take the hose off before you wrench the pcv valve, otherwise you have almost no working room to get the crow's foot onto the valve and end up having a bad time.
As long as you don't have giant hands or forearms, you should be able to reach under the rear driver's side of the manifold and pull off the hose from the valve.
