These are some pictures of the outside of the frame.
The pieces are overlapped and spot welded.
Again no paint. But compared to the hack job hidden between the frame rail and the valve cover, its wonderful!
Dan spoke with a bodyshop guy he knows in CN, and the very experienced bodyman said to do it properly and legally it would take weeks, I think he said 80 hours labor.
Plus the price of new parts.
For some reason Dan does not want to put another $7000.00 or so into his car?
What he wants is it to be safe for his wife to drive.
"The best way" is always the best way, untill it becomes financially unsound, or stupid.
Many of you have changed spark plugs, and alot of you have replaced valve cover gaskets.
You know how enjoyable that was.
A frame repair requires sight more than feel.
I am pulling the engine out of the way so that Jerry or I can see, reach, and fix the problem in a safe and reasonable workman like manner.
More later,
Tom

BTW, This gives me the chance to replace the rear main seal that looks like it is leaking.
