I don't think adjusting the length will have any effect on the performance of the bar (certainly not one I'll be able to feel). They're actually the rear links from an '05 Outback/Legacy. I cut them in half, threaded the shafts, and made a coupler to join them. The main reason I wanted adjustability was to make sure they would fit my design. They could actually be a bit shorter (1/4-1/2"), as they are quite close to the brake line on the strut.
The reason I did that is to allow me to eventually install WRX coilovers in the car. I'm planning on going with Stance 04-07 WRX coils with an 8kg front/6kg rear (~450 and 350 lb/in). One of the main reasons I want to go with Stance is because of their dual height adjustments.
