The PWM outputs are for driving some thing that is variable, positioning, moving, adjusting. EGR, Purge, etc. The switched output would be better for turning some thing on or off.

Just checked last night, the PWM outputs can be set to on/off in software. I'll probably use the VVT wire for the IRIS control, since I surely won't be using it for VVT control :/
