The I.R.I.S. check valve is about $25.00 or so,Subaru part #16195AA030
and can EASILY be broken.
If it has a crack in it (quite common) then it will fail.
They can be replaced without removing the intake manifold.
I use 12" long hemostats ,
a head lamp, cause my eyes are old...
lift the car seversl feet in the air, again cause I'm old...
