They might do the job.

One thing I would caution with older seat heaters: Say there's something on the pass seat and you want to grab it, so you sort of crawl through the drivers door with one knee on the seat and grab whatever it was. The concentrated pressure of most of your weight on one knee could be enough to damage the heater element. I have no experience with this, nor have I heard of anything like it happening, but a friend mentioned it in passing and I thought it sounded like a valid concern.
